Overnight I-94 lane closures in east metro begin March 31
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Construction preparation on Interstate 94 between St. Paul and Maplewood is scheduled to resume overnight starting on Friday, March 31, weather permitting.
Road resurfacing is expected to begin on April 10. However, some temporary lane closures are needed as crews set up the traffic pattern that will be in place through mid-summer 2017.
- Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, March 31, westbound I-94 between I-694/I-494 interchange and Highway 61 will be reduced to two lanes of traffic until 8 a.m. Saturday, April 1.
- Then at 8 p.m. Friday, March 31, eastbound I-94 between Mounds Blvd. and McKnight Rd. will be reduced to two lanes of traffic until 8 a.m. Saturday, April 1.
In addition over the next week, motorists can expect alternating lane closures each day during the overnight hours in both direction of I-94 from Mounds Blvd. to the I-694/I-494 interchange.
Closure durations and time frames are all approximate and weather dependent.
The Interstate 94 east metro reconstruction and improvement project will provide a smoother, safer, long-lasting road with better pedestrian accessibility and improved drainage capabilities. Performing periodic pavement repairs at the appropriate times can greatly increase a road’s lifespan. The project helps ensure MnDOT’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years. Construction is expected to be complete by fall 2017.
